Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary

Explore the largest old growth Bald Cypress forest in North America. The sanctuary is home to a 2.25-mile boardwalk trail that winds through a variety of habitats, including pine flatwoods, wet prairie, and a marsh. Keep an eye out for alligators, otters, snakes, and a variety of bird species.

Wildlife in Everglades National Park

Everglades National Park

Explore the largest tropical wilderness of any kind in the United States, home to a variety of rare and endangered species. There are three main entrances to the park. The closest to Naples is the Gulf Coast Visitor Center in Everglades City. This entrance offers boat tours, kayak rentals, and a small museum. The Shark Valley Visitor Center is the most popular entrance, offering a 15-mile loop road with a 65-foot observation tower.

Explore the mangrove tunnels, estuaries, and coastal waters of Southwest Florida. Paddle through the backwaters of the Gulf of Mexico, where you can spot dolphins, manatees, and a variety of bird species.

Explore the only living coral barrier reef in the United States. The Florida Keys offer some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the world, with clear water and a variety of marine life. The drive to Key Largo is approximately 2.5 hours from Naples.

Our personal favorite, Barefoot Beach is a popular beach in Bonita Springs. It offers a wide stretch of white sand and clear water, with plenty of space for swimming, sunbathing, and shelling. The beach is also home to a variety of wildlife, including sea turtles, nesting shorebirds, and gopher tortoises.
